After 6 to 12 months a student should be confident in a basic response to all situations as well as their reflexes and improved strength. These results depend on the intensity and dedication to studying. Skills must be practiced to be maintained.

Students are encouraged to spar once they've reached proficiency and feel comfortable. But it is not mandatory. A minimum of headguard, gloves and mouthpiece must be worn at all times while sparring.
